:bulletred: Why RAW works!!! & All Around DA pt 2 and Linkage! :bulletred:

:star: UPDATE!!!! I just recently got the latest issue of Popular Photography in the mail and in it, much to my surprise, is an article titled "Why RAW Works", featuring the photography of :iconmarcadamus: (Now don't be thinking "Kool, a DA photographer!!!!" Marc is VERY well known and long before DA, he was active on some of my other haunts like NaturePhotographers.net and fredmiranda.com ) Those of you that have questions on RAW NEED to look at this article as it is also online at the Popular Photography website HERE
and when you are on the page, if you click the pictures of the waterfall, up pops a box that shows more details info and more of the article. This will go to show ya all what I have been saying all along, if you aren't shooting in RAW and your camera is able to, you are HURTING yourself and your IMAGE QUALITY!!!!!!!!

-----------------------------------

:star: Howdy Folks, how ya all doing out there in Photography land?? 'Spose I am ok, just been busy packing a lot and editing photos whenever I can. Other than that, doing fine. I will continue now the "Around DA Feature", where I posted a forum thread asking people to show me their best work. Needles to say, the response was a tad overwhelming, as you can imagine. A real quick shout out to my new watchers, thanks for the support ya all! And yes, once again I am remarkably behind on DA, and catching up will take a LONG time, not sure if I will be able to actually, with the move and all however I shall try my best. Anyways, on with the show!

:star: Hey do you use Adobe Lightroom to process your RAW shots? Then have I got the freebie for you! Who is up fro some free processing presets??

-- Photoshop/Lightroom author Jack Davis to offer a set of 85 develop presets for Lightroom, and these are now available as a free download. "One Click WOW Presets"

--Insight Lightroom is offering a TON of free presets which are VERY powerful, you can get em here--- "Inside Lightroom Develop Presets"

-- Photographer Kelsey Smith (whose work I like, it is edgy, with a twist of retro) has several free Lightroom Presets on her website "My Sweet Life Lightroom Presets"

-- Lightroompresets.com has some which are very nice, including a Velvia preset, get em here-- Lightroom Presets

:star: Ok so you all read my latest poll and some of you seem a tad confused by RAW format and just WHY you SHOULD be shooting in RAW if your camera is capable. Well, this article is for you then. "Understanding RAW Files from The Luminous Landscape" As far as graphic programs which can convert RAW files, currently I really recommend 2 (it would be 3 but most people these days have newer DSLR's and Raw Shooter won't support them, as Adobe bought them out) Fastone Image Viewer , Stepok's Raw Importer (personally I love Stepok, it is bad ass fast) and also, programs like IrfanView and Gimp both support RAW format, just get the plugins for them. Also, Picassa reads almost all native RAW formats out there. Honestly guys, dead honest....if you are NOT shooting in RAW and your cam is capable of doing that, you are only sacrificing YOUR image capabilities! It is night and day as far as detail is concerned....no comparisons!

:star: Wanna be inspired?? Check out the Macro and Nature Photography of Mike Moats This guy just blows me away......his images are unreal!

:star: One blog I regularly check out is "Dan Heller's Photography Business Blog" Check it out, it is a fantastic site with a total wealth of info, especially great if you wanna know more about getting into the industry more and making a lil cash with your shots.

Anyways, that is all for now! I will be posting some more new images on my website before long, jdebordphoto.com so ya all may wish to keep an eye on there. Cheers ya all!

I have never shot raw, because I don't know how to convert it into a JPEG in photoshop...no clue at all, so I shoot JPEG fine on my Nikon D80....even when reading on how I am confused...LOL
