Description

A Summer Sunset At The Lake

Rural Boulder County, Colorado

I guess it is safe to say that light like this is what many of us all live for when it comes to photography....well I know at least I do. Just a reflection of this past Summer, and how this scene was an unsuspecting one, and just downright beautiful. Processed in HDR and output through Photoshop, I hope you all enjoy it!

What a stunning scene! Love the composition, with the soft, light grasses in the foreground. The light across the lake is wonderful, leaving a beautiful glimmer trailing across, and clearly showing the ripples and lovely soft colours in the water, as well as the golden spread of light.

The mountains are clearly defined from the light of the setting sun, and with that wonderful end-of-day haze, and it's great how you can just see a hint of the countryside.

The sky adds a whole other dimension and dynamic to the whole photograph, giving it a dramatic feel, in contrast to the peacefulness of the lake and countryside. The deep black-grey-blue clouds are a striking contrast to the golden hues of the lower part of the sky with the sun bursting through, and also there is the added feature of the upper edge of the clouds being trimmed with light. The little bit of white-lit cloud above and the soft grey-blue behind it all, also adds something extra I feel.

There is a great depth to the photo and the whole image is captivating.

The only one drawback is the slightly blown-out sun - but, really, I don't think it detracts overall from the picture, and sometimes ... well, these things just can't be helped!

Great work! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile) - :)"/>
