One of the most dangerous places on the planet with tension so thick you could cut it with Ka-bar. I think Kim Jong-il is in a bad way and wants to write his legacy as a great leader and warrior, but he's nothing more than an insecure mental midget who lacks the backbone to admit that communism has failed and failed miserably. When you see how advanced South Korea is by comparison it amazes me that the people of the North have not rebelled against this fool.

Perhaps it's been ok, but not great. As far as I know the Koreas just barely started letting a few people travel back and forth. I think if larger nations start war, they will be very quick to join the chaos and cause even more trouble.

I honestly don't know. I guess we won't know for sure what's going on until something happens. Hopefully nothing will, but we should be prepared in case something does. We don't need another world war on our hands. Especially in this economy.

I think you will see a limited "police action" alone the border between North and South Korea, followed by another truce, and then everything will die down and North Korea will return to talks with their tail between their legs.

Kim Jong il thinks he's being smart. He thinks he has the upper hand. He thinks America is mired down in two wars, with a busted economy, and can't afford, nor support a third. On top of that, he thinks he has a pushover for a President to deal with.

Tensions will mount, the world will renounce, he will attack a South Korean ship or instillation, the U.S., South Korea and Japan will counter in a limited "police action" style confrontation, China will shit bricks because they don't want to see our economy troubled more than it is, everyone will back off, and then everyone will return to talks.

North Korea is posturing. They are going to push too hard, though. They aren't actually going to launch a nuclear attack on anyone. They know the would community would support cleaning them off the map if they did such a thing. They know they can't match the people they are pushing. They overestimate how far they can push, though. That's why there will be a skirmish, some shots fired over borders, and then the tide will push back and everyone will return to talks.

THAT is my guess. It will show Obama's willingness to engage, it will send a message to Iran, it will put North Korea in its place...

I just get the feeling that is what you will see. For whatever my opinion and speculation is wroth.

I lived in South Korea for two years and a lot of them have family in North Korea. Although Kim Jong-il has this too big for his britches complex, doesn't necessarily mean that the North Korean's will fight for him. Like I said, they've got family in the South.

A lot of them have fled to South Korea too because of the poor living conditions in the North. It's really hard to say for sure which way it'll go, but North Korea has been threatening an attack for years. I think it's all talk and no walk. They've got China breathing down their neck too if they ever dared to make a move.

I don't know what's going to happen, but Kim Jong Il certainly seems to have extreme delusions of grandeur. If North Korea ever started anything nuclear, the US could total them easily.
