Deviation Actions
Today I am kicking off a series featuring some outstanding unseen and undiscovered Nature Photographers here on deviantART, deviants whose galleries are outstanding and very much worth checking out, whose work I have found to be completely inspiring and very top notch.
Join me on this journey looking at those whose images deserve a LOT more attention than what they have gotten, and get inspired!
Devin, whose work is featured today as my selection for a DD for Photography>APN is the kind of guy everyone should have in their watchlist, passionate at photography and very knowledgeable, he is already ready to lend fellow deviants a helping hand with any photography related questions one might have. Often spotted trolling the Photography>APN Chatroom at 11pm EST in the disguise of Bigfoot.

Josh is a fellow Colorado shooter who seems to have a taste for the bizarre at times (like dreams of Nikon fan girls who have 600mm lenses) who has a great eye and oddly enough, has been known to wake up at the ungodly hour of 4am to hike some Mountain Peak in his shorts. More nuts than a can of Planters.

Em is a "Cheesehead" as we say here in the states (someone from Wisconsin) who enjoys late night 80s Boy George Karaoke at the local tavern and playing pool, while downing a can of Rhinelander. Her technique in what she captures is unique, in that she has almost more of a travel photography style that captures landscapes and country life molded in to it. Often times she can be found on DA at weird hours, like 3:30am with her voice out from signing "Don't cry for me..Argentiiiiiina". Another case of insanity, she actually has her index finger tattooed with the word "Click" lol (yes I am serious on that! Go look at her gallery, there is a pic of her with it!)

Sarah, otherwise known as "She who gets to close to frickin' Bears" is from Canada, and let me tell ya, it has been a pleasure to watch her and watch her develop into the talent that she is today. Though a tad nuts at times with getting a shot off, she never fails to prevail, even if she is cold from the Canadian snow half the time, usually found drinking a Labatt's while photo editing, her talent speaks for itself!
Lidija who is from Croatia, is another Beer drinker (are we seeing a pattern here amongst nature photographers??!?! lol ) is very passionate in what she shoots with the camera, and often times can be spotted standing on the edge of some cliff hundreds of feet up, tripod sturdied by a 12 pack hanging from the center weight. Known to also wake up at ungodly hours, her work always amazes me, and is one of favorite nature photographers on deviantART.

Michael hails from the great photographic state of Utah, and is one of those guys who works seriously odd hours to support his addiction for photography, often found on the weekends un-shaven, un-showered, and smelling like a dead Goat, he can be seen having fun with himself at 2am in a pop-up tend in the middle of nowhere in the remote desert. Rumor has it he secretly stalks Iamidaho and Nate-Zeman but we can't confirm it, he captures light in landscapes that many only wish they were able to.

DD worthy
These days it's difficult to find photography on here which really stands out. I mean REALLY stands out, especially since DA isn't attracting the people it once did and so many here have left for other sites. That being said, incredible work can still be found and seen on here & you just have to know where to go to find it.
I thought I would share with all of you work that I would give DD to if I was still a volunteer. These images IMHO all deserve it & are worthy. Amazing work. Inspiring work. Incredible work.
Enjoy!
Playing in traffic as a photographer
Traffic.
It's an important thing. Not that kind of traffic where cars zoom by but the sort of traffic that makes up ones website(s).
Traffic is important. For those of us who make our living in the creative world, it's invaluable. For me, it's a big thing, it tells me how many have seen my photography and allows me to market accordingly. So with that being said, I want to share something with you all.
I uploaded my latest shot to here on DA and on 500px. The picture on DA was uploaded 30 minutes before the photo on 500px. Keep that in mind.

Let's have a conversation DA
So I was reading this on DA I laughed. You know it's bad when they have to list "you get a special symbol next to your name that indicates you're a paying subscriber!"
Hey DA let's have a conversation shall we?
DA is where I started online, sort of. Before that I was active in photography communities that were forums all around the internet. It wasn't long though that I found DA and made it my home almost 13 years ago. I've seen the website drastically change, some good and some very bad in that time.
Honestly if I had the cash I would do a hostile takeover of it. I'd buy it and I would change its name to something better suited than
Let's talk about art theft and copyright
It's been awhile hasn't it DA?
Well today I am writing you something to address a little something I recently experienced. Let's call it for what it is, "art theft" and nothing less than that. I was recently made aware that a certain high profile deviant whom I won't mention (because I would like to keep it classy) recently took one of my most popular photographs of an Elk, erased my signature on it and put it up on Tumblr. Cute, eh? Sure if you consider that sort of thing as cute, which I certainly don't.
I went ahead and contacted my lawyer and I also went ahead and sent Tumblr a DCMA takedown notice. Beyond that I also went ahead and co
