I really tried to frame this shot as best as I can in camera using my Minolta 28mm f2.8 lens. It has been awhile since I put this lens through it's paces, and I have forgotten just how sharp it is...needless to say it is now of the most used lenses as of late for landscapes. I really wanted to try and capture the atmosphere here, presenting the scene as realistic as possible with the subtle light and the textures that are found during winter within RMNP. Trying to make the composition work was challenging at times to really get the river to work within the image.
I hope you all like it! John

Very interesting composition with a lot of elemements wich cooperate and somewhat compete for a better final result.
Liked the layers of colors wich divide the image in zones with a different "feel", if I put a white paper in the bottom and midle thirds obscuring the water stream would even get the illusion of a hot day, but the entire picture with the snow in bottom clearly show the icemelt subject.
Would enjoy seen the entire curve of it in the right of the image, the inclusion of one margin is fine (and I even wonder if the cut was proposital to create a point of tension, so is a matter of personal taste), the water stream and the colors of bottom are the main subjects and I liked the way they pop into scene.
