Description

Wild Sunflowers In Retro

Wild Sunflowers....there is just something about them which I have always loved, and are a favorite subject of mine to photograph. Captured using my Tamron 200-400mm lens, I wanted something that sort of harked back in a retro style to old style film, something that didn't just come off as a standard closeup of a Sunflower. I wanted to capture a sense of emotion, a sense of feeling....I hope I achieved that and I hope you all like it

Hi John,

What a stunning image! I love the composition and the toning is superb. Indeed a bit like an old vintage movie.

I must say the Depth of Field is very appealing, with the other sunflowers being the very natural background for their companion, but nice and blurry. Also they seem larger then the one you focussed on, which gives your subject sunflower a fragile and vulnerable appearance. It seems to take a bow to the others. The lighting is subtle, yet warm enough to imagine that the picture was taken in France, on one of the immense sunflower fields Vincent van Gogh picked flowers from to use in his most famous painting.

So yes, your picture creates emotion, in me it does.

Cheers, Marion
