The X-Brand Ranch

This is the life I think....this Ranch has always captivated me ever since I first saw and shot it about 6 years ago...situated in the sleepy lil town of Shawnee Township here in Colorado, it sneaks up on ya, and then you see just how gorgeous and quaint this place is. Ya know, maybe one day I will venture up the nerve to go past the gate and knock on their door and show them my images. It just is one of those places that screams "American West" and "Colorado". You can't really see in this shot, but behind the barn, they actually have a big river that flows through the property. And jusging from the architecture on the barn, this ranch was built in th elater half of the 1800s....1860s probably. The sign on the gate says "No Trespassing" but I imagine that they might welcome me with photos in hand....heck may have to get them a big print. I really wanted to capture a good perspective with this shot, so I hung out the car window in the driveway and shot several, bracketing away and messing with my white balance a lot to get the overall look and feel, checking the histogram a lot. I didn't want to be greeted with the Ranchers Shotgun anytime soon lol I wanted texture, I wanted representation of what country was like in Colorado...I wanted reality. And this is it!

and at a risk this is what you got. The clouds were just perfect for shooting that day! Great job you made of the texture and old school feel. Trespassers don't tend to knock on a front door walking nicely up the path so do it that way! lol

oh man see this is why i wanna move to colorado. i would love this. this is a great shot it kinda takes your breath away. i smell the fresh air by just looking at it. ahh good one.

NO! but im dying to go. ive been buggin my bf about it we have some friends there so we are going on vaca soon over there, right now he's in Iraq though. id love to live there one day, im the kind of person that lives off of beautiful sunsets, landcapes and mountains and natures way of telling us the world is beautiful. your photos tell me a story and at the end it says COME HERE!!! lol.
