Some of you may recall the landscape version of this shot that I uploaded not to long ago, and I also have a different version of this shot, processed a little differently that I will be uploading in the days/weeks to come.
Bracing my camera with my "Puffin Pad" [link]
with the wind absolutely howling like Hades, this presented some challenging shooting conditions. We were on the leading front of a rather large incoming snowstorm and getting the outflow from it. What happened though was sheer magic with the light from the sunrise becoming diffused yet very bright, reflecting against the clouds and creating this almost surreal like glow. Beautiful? Ya you can say that again! Cold? Very.
To get the shot I had to shoot this stabilizing my camera as best as I could and using my Sony a550's in camera HDR ability, combined with a CPL and Grad ND. I think in the end it was worth the challenge!
