This is a complete rework of a very old shot of mine, and I have to say, I REALLY like how this came out! HDR processed, vignetted, dropped the curves, and dodged and burned in areas. In case you are wondering, it's a 1960 Lincoln Continental. I always loved these cars with their cantered headlights....back when design was DESIGN and when cars were built to lat 30 years and more.
When I first saw this photo, It immediately captured my attention! I being a very vintage enthusiast just absolutely loved this photo. I love your choice of colors giving it this tint that really helps pop the photo out and produce this vintage vibe. However I wish if the clouds weren't blurred to the background I feel it could have made this photo perfect. Another note was I wish the photo had a big of contrast so it will help bring out the "auto service" on the top and a very little hint of sharpness. Your work usually has a lot of nature element but this piece shows you have the ability to transcend to other type of photography. Like I said previously, this is deff a piece I would fav
Awesome image of an awesome car. Great composition as well, I don't like the car quest sign but hey you didnt hang it up there either. I have to wonder what a slightly diffrent angle or perhaps a wider angle lens closer to the car would do with that billboard behind the photo.
I love love the colors and it has a great feel. The sky is awesome with the approach to black and near whites. I disagree with the other critque and belive the emphasis of exposure has been placed squarely on the car.
So I will be nitpicky on a few things first the reflection of the sky on the cars window is too bright, there simply isn't much detail there, and it looks weird with all the detail around it. perhaps the use of a circular polarizer would of help to cut down on that amount of glare, or a bit more latitude in the HDR towards the upper areas to find some detail in the bright sky that the window is catching.
the last thing i want to mention is the crop is way way to tight, the car is stuffed in there, while a tight crop for the car would be suitable for this photo there is No room whatsoever on either side of the bumper, if i were to frame this photo the car would be noticeably cut into by the frame.
So give that car a bit of room around it, this will also bring out the amazing lines of old cars by giving the car a little room to pop out on its own for us!
Keep up the great work though your color processing rocks man.
This reminds me of an old, classic photograph I saw a while back. Sadly, I'm at a loss as far as whom the artist was to which I'm mentally referring.
Perfect lighting, highlights, composition. This is an HDR? You've done it so well, I wouldn't have guessed. Customarily, I find HDR looks as if someone's poured milk over the image, but you've definitely mastered the effect.
