A new journey begins....
Meet "Sunny".
The story is pretty amazing when it comes to my new best friend. I went ahead and photographed this just a few minutes ago. Some of you may know that this past June 24th I have to put my best friend Klaus to sleep. [link] I was graced by my German Shepherds presence for nearly 13 years. It was the right decision however one of the hardest things I have ever done. I still tear up because I miss him so much...boy do I ever. Sometimes though things happen for a reason . Very good reasons.

I was photographing the sunflower fields with my buddy Cheryl almost exactly a month to the date when I had put Klaus down. Suddenly she heard a noise and turned around and here laying in the field behind her was this little doggy. Dirty, starving, very friendly and a tad shy. There was no way I was leaving him there and we wouldn't. Cheryl decided to take him home with her and now as of Sunday evening he is mine. It is sort of ironic that I was even at the sunflower fields that evening as I wouldn't have been if we didn't have to go back and get our car that evening from having a major blow out while shooting the sunflower fields the previous night. I have come to nickname him "Awesome Dog" because he really is. I don't think I have ever met a sweeter dog in my life and affectionate? Yeah, that is putting it mildly. I think someone up above is looking out for me with a keen eye from The Rainbow Bridge.

Yeah you have been gifted from above with a new and loyal friend! Someone from above is looking out for your well being, and this little guy is probably just what you needed!
I am so happy that you did the right thing by steeping up and taking care of this beautiful puppy! All animals deserve to be cared and loved! way to many times this situation would have ended up tragic, as this little dog would have eventually starved and died! Thank you for being a caring person!
May you both have a long and happy life together!
