Take The High Road by kkart Take The High Road by kkart
Loveland Pass, Colorado
This view was something, as the light hit the peaks and forest, needless to say I took several with different compositions (portrait style for instance) which I will be uploading in the days to come. For those of you who wondering, no it actually isn't HDR, instead I used my Sony a550's DRO (dynamic range optimization) ability on 3 for this shot, I haven't really played with DRO much, but I have to say I am really liking the results! Pretty crazy road, huh? Not to bad for iso 1000 either, I guess. Did I say I am loving the lack of noise in my new camera? lol

I hope you all like it
John

I envy you big time. I love the mountains so much, but am stuck in Iowa with my family. I spent quiet a few years on the west coast and developed a keen desire to return. The light as you say is super, I woke to that color many a times while camping. (Please, enjoy it a little more, I want to feel the joy.... hehe)

Not always easy to take the high road, but always the right choice.

Stunning scene! Were you standing on top of the mountain? It almost looks like the view from a helicopter or something. :giggle: I'm guessing you were just up on the mountain, though. Great work!

Can I say I envy you sooo much? I didn't know how pretty it was up in Loveland and now that you've taken this shot, I feel a desire to go up there and check it out! I dunno why but the hills don't even seem real, they look so nice that it seems as if they were made digitally...if that makes any sense. The colors came out so well here it takes your eyes a little time to take it all in, I can only imagine how it is in real life.

"Loveland" and "Loveland Pass" are 2 completely different areas, no where close to one another, this is where the ski resort is at, not the city, so you know. :) So make sure you go to the right one :)

You take the high road
And I'll take the low road
But I'll be in Scotland 'afore ye!

...Wait, that ain't my country. It's still freakin' awesome. The green's really been captured well, which is difficult for many modern cameras. The blue sky contrasting with the green really brings the mountains out more.

:+fav: Whoa, the colours on this piece are so crisp and clear...:o
But why take the Highroads? Hiking through mountains like these are a LOT better! :D

I wonder if I'm able to locate those kind of settings on my camera at some stage..:?

Because sometimes the most beautiful things are right in front of us, we just never see them. Besides, I can't hike

I can't place the exact location but with those shadows and at 8:00 am this has to be on the east side. Really good detail and color. There used to be a pull off just west of the divide with a short walk in to a couple of small tundra lakes. I feel like you can't really appreciate the Colorado scenery until you get up above that treeline.
