I give you all the most dangerous animal in the entire world, the mighty Marmot! In reality they are anything but. I caught this guy along Mount Evans here in Colorado soaking up the morning sunlight at an altitude of roughly 12,000 feet high. I have always gotten a kick out of Marmot's, they're always so photogenic and are often just as curious about us as we are them. This guy sat and posed for awhile for me, just staring right at me and wondering what the heck I was doing. Considered to be a very large squirrel, there are over 15 different species of Marmots, this one is a Yellow-bellied Marmot. They're highly communicative & highly social animals. Groundhogs are low land Marmots essentially so if you have ever seen one of those, you've seen a very close relative of the Marmot.
