This was one of the absolute best sunsets I have ever seen or photographed. Captured at Brainard Lake, Colorado thunderstorms were building above us which shortly would go severe over the plains and the Denver metro area. This storm gave us some great lightning shots and was much longer lived than I thought it would be. I was completely in jaw on the ground mode when I shot this, absolutely astounded by the color and the intensity of everything. It was like being in the middle of a painting.

I am pretty floored and humbled that my photograph here went viral on Google+ yesterday and was featured in the "What's Hot On Google+"
