This will be headed fro scraps soon or I may make a webcam pic outta it for my front page...anyways....
I just thought that I would share this with ya all as 99.9% of you have never seen such a sign before, and I venture a guess most my fellow Coloradoans haven't either. In fact this was the first time I had ever seen one, and this was taken at Garden of the Gods. Now I bet the next time ya all are there, you will be kinda watching your surrounding won't ya You gotta love the last line lol "Back Away Slowly....if you can" lol Anyways, enjoy! Something unique for ya all! ---John
Lol, Half of these don't work. Sometimes, it's BEST to make direct eye contact, you do NOT want to talk to the lion, and backing away, even slowly, can make the lion assume you are afraid- it's in their nature to hunt and scare creatures smaller than them. And holy smokes, DON'T try to make yourself look bigger! When they are ready to attack, maybe, but otherwise, it will only make yourself seem as more of a threat- especially a female with her kittens hiding somewhere.
I was walking home from school and saw one (a 300-hundred pounder male, I learned later) climb the hill on the left side of the road 20 feet in front of me. He heard me stop, and I stood my ground and had a direct-eye-contact staring match with him for five or six seconds. Then he simply continued to the other side of the road and never looked back as he climbed the other hill.
working....XDDD (i'm on the job, right now ) i don't have much time to spend with my camera (working 8h and studying too). i hope i'll do a travel soon and have some days to shot new stuff!
and you? well, doing amazing shots, i can see i can't believe this advice: ¿"stay calm"?¿"talk to the lion in a firm, low voice"? these are the last things i would do
lol! I was in Glacier a few weeks ago, there are signs all over about the bears...apparently if you just call out "hey bear" as you walk along, that will deter them.....right.....
