Morning Light Of Winter by kkart Morning Light Of Winter by kkart
Pikes Peak and Garden Of The Gods Park bathe in the pre-dawn light on New Years Day morning, the first day of our winter photo meetup. We froze our collective butts off (it was far below zero) but well worth it! The light was just beautiful, really clear and clean...and you have to love alpenglow!

Anyways I hope you all like it
John

Specs: In camera HDR using my Sony a550

I just love your results with the in-camera HDR. I can never seem to get it to look just right. Of course, you do have impeccable timing for catching just the right light. :)

18-80? You mean 18-70?
18-70 is the kit lens and it is a hit or miss lens, most being on the miss side of things. Especially the Sony version, the Minolta version scores a little higher. I will say this, the Minolta 18-70 I have is a very sharp lens and I dearly love mine. I have both 35-70s, the F3.5-4.5 RS [link] and the f4 [link] Both are very sharp lenses, though I don't use them very often, the focal length in a 1.4 crop sensor DSLR doesn't make them that convenient. Now and then though when I get a chance I will go to them.

As far as PP--everything is processed in Lightroom and finalized inside Photoshop. You MUST process when shooting RAW, as I don't really shoot jpegs.

Beautiful, John. I took a similar shot on the third, but now I realize I should have set my camera to ISO 100, because the auto select selected ISO 400, and it...well never mind. I'm learning as I go along, and your work both inspires me and shows me what I still have to learn.
