Memories Of A Land Worked As I drove out to the distant Salinas Pueblo Mission Ruins in the middle of no where New Mexico (I mean REALLY out there!) , I drove through many Indian Reservations .a few were a tad on the scary side if ya will however this one where I shot this on was a little larger and signs of life seemed rather optimistic. I saw this scene and just knew I had to stop and take it, a glimpse into the historical past of the Native American people of the Manzano tribe and Nation ..I really liked the old Windmill and how the coming thunderstorms played into this scene as a whole, adding a nice touch of atmosphere and drama to the whole scene. Processed in HDR, your thoughts are most welcomed!
Thanks everyone for your feedback & comments. It is impossible for me to say thank you to everyone who leaves comments, as it takes away from me seeing YOUR work, but if you do I will swing by your page and check your work out. Thanks! ---John
Sep 13, 2008 This is so beautiful Johnny. I love the stormy sky against the vast dark hills. The windmill screams of days gone by and you captured it perfectly
That sky is so wild, the scene looks quite sad. Although it's processed in HDR it doesn't have that wild, over the top eye burning colour (which I still like) that alot of HDR shots have, it's really subtle and the reeds/grass have such warm tones. Still can't get over that sky, looks wild!
Ya know, it is so gorgeous down there....so different than here. I simply love the Native American culture and architecture down there. Gee I wonder how I got caught up in THAT!?!?!? lolol
It is a LOT liek Colorado, the north afterall borders Colorado, and is much like here. The rest of teh state reminds me of Grand Junction [link] That is the thing about Colorado, it is one of the most varied climates in North America I have always loved New Mexico, I was first there in 1990, and have loved it since!
