Leaning Towards The Past by kkart Leaning Towards The Past by kkart
An old outbuilding from a rural farm starts to give way on the Eastern plains of Colorado close to the Nebraska border. I love photographing subject matter like this, always have...there is just something about the history of the west that I love, especially when it is old and decayed. I wonder what this place would say if it could talk, what kinds of ghosts still linger here and walk among the structures? It always makes me think.....Some people photograph 'urban decay' as they call it, I personally prefer to shoot 'rural decay'.

I hope you all like it!
John

My wife and I both love old abandoned homes and farm buildings. There is so much past in them. Nice one!

It always amazes me how long those things can hold out. We have one in worse shape than that (The logs are barely holding together). Every year, we think it's gonna go, but it still hangs in there.

Very interesting image, I would like to see a different approach to make this image. This one is too classic one. Wide angle different perspective..

This reminds me of when I visited Sicily, the triangular island off of the 'boot' of Italy, in 2006. Lots of abandoned buildings in the countryside. The whole place is badly under-resourced compared to the more prosperous north of Italy. Part of this is due to the influence of the Mafia :( but also because of the north-south divide. There is even a political party, the Northern League, who'd quite like to secede from the south altogether. Mind you, they should probably be more concerned about the finances of the entire country - hardly anyone pays taxes, and corruption is rife. :( No surprise, considering Italy is run by a crook, Silvio Berlusconi. :bleh: Sorry, I'm starting to rant now, I'll shut up.

That's a great shot.
I have always enjoyed these buildings, ever since i was a kid going on vacations to visit my grandmother in the country. There would be these old barns and outbuildings falling apart and leaning ...until they finally fall.
Great shot you have here!
