This is my boy Klaus.....my GSD. I brought him back with me when I moved back from Germany. Yes he only understands German...in case you are wondering. Taken on a snowy day in my backyard

Thanks! He is a lot of fun to say the least! Have you thought about checking out rescues in yer area?

That would be ideal, as I'd feel better knowing we saved an animal in need ratehr than buying one. But I'm torn between getting an already adult dog and a puppy we can train.

well you can really train an adult dog...sometimes adult dogs are better and are much lower maintence than a puppy. Also you are able to see more in an adult dog, how they act and so forth. If you are lucky, you maybe be able to get one that is just a couple years old or younger.

if you put it that way, I feel much better about getting one from a shelter :)

That's a really good-lookin' dog. I've got a real GSD as well, a beautiful fluffy girl from Munich. She guards my rabbits. :) Great dogs.

Excellent photo.

ya they sure are great dogs! Klaus' only prob is that he is dog agressive though a LOT of that broken when he was trained by the German Police, but not all, it's one reason why he was "released". He's from Dresden originally and has East German and Czech lines, hence the squared styled head. They have quite a reputation over there, especially in the east as the German Police (stassi) used them often for control during communism. His granparents were both border guards.

He looks very dignified. I've heard of dogs that only know the language of their country. I even knew of one who would only do the opposite of what the owner told it to do. :giggle:
