Suggester says, "A powerful yet devastating scene to behold. Amidst everything else that's going on in the world right now, disasters can strike unexpectedly close to home for some, and it's tragic that there's no happy story behind this amazing photo."

Description

This photo has been picked up by the news media, specifically our local ABC affiliate who saw it on Twitter last evening and asked if they could use it on the air [link] )

Last evening myself, John ( ~Glitch-Chaos ) and Josh ( *daskibum ) all got together to shoot The Golden Fire (Indian Creek Wildfire) outside of Golden, Colorado. I was simply just amazed watching mother nature release some of her most devastating power and fury in the form of a wildfire that is now approaching 1500 acres. We shot at 2 different location, the first location we eventually moved from as the winds changed and we began to feel like we standing and shooting in the middle of a smoker. The second location, Lookout Mountain, made for more dramatic photographs and this is where this shot was taken from. The wind at times was absolutely nuts and trying to steady a 400mm lens with exposures up to 30 seconds long was very difficult and challenging. This shot here was about 4 seconds long as I zoomed in to get some of the action going on that my lens could see but the naked eye was unable to.

I tell ya, photographing wildfires close by is becoming all to often an occurrence the last couple of years. I hope this isn't really an ongoing thing, though I have to admit I love to be able to photograph them, as long as no one is hurt or no ones house goes up in flames.

Below is a shot from one of the wildfires I photographed last year, The 4 Mile Canyon fire, which The Associated Press picked up on after seeing it on Twitter (are you seeing a pattern here folks?!? lol ) It was published worldwide, including on the front page of Yahoo, Fox News, AOL, NBC nightly news, LA Times, and a host of other news outlets.

Bro humanity is so weird. Ngl it's impressive we love wildfires so much when it's just pure shit. I've lived in a place close to one of those and I have learnt to hate them for good reasons, plus there are always casualties. I mean animals lose their homes and the ground gets naked, and even though some say fires are good to regenerate soil, at the same time, it chokes the ground, since ashes stop water from propperly filtering through it, making the ground quality worse. So yeah wildfires are pure shit, from any angle
