Country Roads & Thunderstorms

Ya that is what the title SHOULD be, but it won't fit, sadly.

Captured on a back country road around the Mount Evans Wilderness area here in Colorado, the Chicago Creek was running along side and gave quite a birth to some of the tallest Aspen trees I have ever seen in my life. The atmosphere was simply incredible, with the sweet smell of rain and the sound of distant thunder as the storm started to come over the mountains that you see on the looming horizon.

This was the first chance I really got to test out that $7 Sigma 28-90mm Macro lens I got at Ritz when they were closing. I have to say, overall I am VERY impressed with this lens, it is like a razor blade.

Hope ya all like it!
John

:bulletblue: About the shot itself:

This shot is selective HDR as I call it, partially normal exposure and partial HDR, with blending for dynamic range increase to better represent the scene. RAW files through Lightroom and final edits done inside PS and Dynamic Photo HDR.

Hoya circular polarizer, Sigma 28-90mm Aspherical Mini Macro Zoom lens

Critiques

:iconfarcry77:
First of all I must say that this shot made me remind of some old place which I have visited few years back. I still can remember the rugged road and the blown off dust when the big monster timber movers take speed on it.

I love the wonderful colors on this shot. There is a mix of several cheerful colors in a proper manner. Well balanced contrasts and highlights as well. Good composition and perfect focus no doubt.

I 2 things which I would like to clarify since I must go a step further since this is actually a critic I’m writing  1 is the line of light which spreads on the trees looks a bit unnatural. More like its caste in post process. But scene such as this can occur in nature no doubt  2 is the angle of the trees on the right. Maybe they look a bit awkward due to lens distortion??

Overall wonderful work!!!!

Very nice piece of glass, the lighting down that road is so nice, and the mountains popping up in the background.
