Colorado Dreaming

Photographed in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. I just really loved the tones in this shot...that sky was really something when I was standing here shooting this. I was actually quite tempted to walk out farther and take this, but decide it would be for the better if I didn't. The snow out there could have been pretty darn deep and I didn't feel like having to use my tripod as a pole vault anytime soon lol

Longs Peak is the mountain you see in the photograph.

Hope ya all like it!

First of all, let me say this is just one of those shots you see as a thumb, and know you have to click on for the full size.

I like the shadows shown in the foreground, on the snow, it gives some nice lighting there. The centered tree works well with the sun shining on it, makes a great center subject for the image.
The vast white, and patchy ground down from, and in the distance of, the foreground is spectacular. It just shows the sheer size of this landscape.
Then there's another huge plain of greenery, before the colossal mountains in the far background. It's all just beautifully composed and well thought out.

The only thing I may have done differently, would have been to possibly make this panoramic, or even to make a separate version of this in that way. I like the clouds above the mountains, but I just feel there's too much of them, and there's less contrast between the clear blue sky, and the snowy mountains.

Overall, it's a stunning a photograph, and you've done an excellent job!

I also like the different tones in this picture; the calmness, the vast nature. It's makes one feel great looking at this picture, and sensing that relaxing feeling taking over them.

When one looks at the picture, the first thing they look at are the mountains with the clouds over them. One of the most beautiful scenery, which unfortunatly the tree in the middle is covering. If you had just taken the picture a bit from the left and a bit further near the tree. Half the picture is the snow closests to us, when the focus are the mountains; it does give some balance to the image, but I find it unecessary. BUT that is me; I preffer cleaner photos :)

Either way, I can see you have a good eye for a picture; it's hard to be original when taking pictures of nature but you managed to show originality. I like the different "layers" of snow, trees, mountains and clouds. It really gives a sense of depth. Then each depth has a different colour and texture; great idea, great chance!

Orverall good job! Even though the snow made it harder for you to take a photo where you originaly wanted, you created a good piece full of depth and with a sense of calmness.

Congratulations

Great John!
Just the right light for the snow, trees and the background.
Like the tones, too. It's fascinating how similar the blues of the sky and the snow in the shadows are.
Well done!

Lovely. It starts from nearly touching the snow, to beyond the hills. Great work.
